HEAVY RAIN HEADED FOR SOUTHEASTERN PORTIONS OF RHODE ISLAND AND SOUTHEASTERN MASSACHUSETTS.

AT 150 PM NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR WAS TRACKING A LARGE BAND OF HEAVY RAIN OVER THE OCEAN WATERS FROM EAST OF NEW JERSEY TO THE EAST OF MONTAUK POINT LONG ISLAND.

THIS HEAVY RAIN WAS MOVING RAPIDLY TO THE NORTHEAST AND WILL BE OVERSPREADING SOUTHEASTERN NEW ENGLAND BETWEEN 2 PM AND 3 PM.

RAINFALL RATES OF UP TO 05 TO 075 INCHES PER HOUR ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS AREAS MAINLY SOUTH AND EAST OF A LINE FROM NEWPORT RHODE ISLAND TO PLYMOUTH MASSACHUSETTS.

THE RAIN WILL CONTINUE INTO THE EVENING HOURS IN THOSE AREAS.

WINDS WILL ALSO BE INCREASING WITH GUSTS TO 30 TO 40 MPH LIKELY IN SOUTHEASTERN NEW ENGLAND.

WINDSWEPT RAIN WILL REDUCE VISIBILITIES.

MOTORISTS SHOULD BE ALERT FOR PONDING OF WATER ON ROADWAYS.

STRONG WINDS LIKELY LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT ALONG THE SOUTH COAST OF MASSACHUSETTS AND RHODE ISLAND.

WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 AM EST THURSDAY.

INCLUDING THE CITIES OF, PLYMOUTH, CHATHAM.

FALMOUTH.

PROVINCETOWN, VINEYARD HAVEN, NANTUCKET, BLOCK ISLAND WINDS:
NORTH 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH.

TIMING:
STRONGEST WINDS FROM 4 PM WEDNESDAY THROUGH 11 PM WEDNESDAY EVENING.

IMPACTS:
THESE STRONG WINDS ARE CAPABLE OF DOWNING TREES AND POWER LINES AS WELL AS CAUSING PROPERTY DAMAGE.
